A private Celebration of Life service will be held for the family Saturday June 6, 2020. The family ask that friends please visit to send their condolences.
Zack was born in Pitt County on August 19, 1995 the son of Herbert Andrew Blake, Jr and the late Phelicia Brooks Blake.
Zachary was a very smart, hardworking, and loving individual. He was loved by many; friends, family and teachers. Zack graduated from Washington High School in the summer of 2014. From there Zack went on to find his passion for boats. Working in the industry he took a lot of pride in the work he did and was very talented at building and repairing them. As a child, Zack loved the outdoors and all the activities that came with it. He enjoyed fishing and took many trips with his dad Herb and brother Brooks. Zack loved to make an entrance and took pride in being the brightest in the room. He lived his life to the fullest and when it came to doing something he was either extremely impassioned about it or wanted nothing to do with it. Zack and his witty personality will be missed.
He is survived by his father: Herbert Andrew Blake, Jr. of Aurora, Colorado; a brother: Brooks Andrew Blake and wife Grayson and her son Jackson of Winterville, NC; maternal grandmother: Jessie Brooks of Bath, NC; and paternal grandmother: Vicky Blake of Washington, NC. Zack was preceded in death by his mother: Phelicia Blake in 2016, grandmother: Cecelia Warrington, maternal grandfather: Dan Brooks and paternal grandfather: Andy Blake.

It broke my heart when I heard the news of Zach's passing. He was always one of my favorite students . . . his smile was heart-warming and contagious; his love of life was larger than himself, and his ability to make others laugh just made WHS a better place during his time there. I pray for peace, comfort, and God's arms wrapped tightly around each of you. Know that Zach was loved by many.

    Pam Mault says:
    Mr. Herbert, Brooks, and family,
I had the privilege of teaching Zach English I (freshman English) at Washington High School. Zach was the life of the party! He loved to announce his entrance to everybody in the classroom as he danced his way in each day while we shared our "in classroom joke" of his name --- "Zak Blak." If I ever got upset with him, Zach would flash that big smile, say "Love you, Ms. Mault!", squint his eyes, and pucker up! I never could stay upset with him for more than five seconds. Hold tight to your memories and don't forget to smile ... just like he would do. With much love ...
