Sandra “Sandy” Lamm Mayo, 59, a resident of Grimesland, NC died Thursday, May 18, 2023, due to injuries stemming from an automobile accident.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 3:00pm. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm at the same location.
Sandy was born in Onslow County, NC on December 5, 1963 to Shelby “Jean” Lamm and the late Joseph “Mickey” Lamm. Sandy had two children (Trey and Tracey) with her husband of more than forty years, Stanley Mayo. Her favorite thing was being home with her husband and animals. Sandy had two dogs: Odie and Sissy; two cats: Chester and Mikey, and many chickens -her favorite being Fluffy Butt, who still holds a place as the background on her phone.
Occasionally Sandy could be found out and about with Cindy, Diane, and Doris. They were her best friends for decades and the four of them were known as “The Breakfast Club”.
Sandy’s favorite time of year was the holidays. She loved cooking for family and friends on Thanksgiving but loved Christmas even more. She loved decorating the house for the Christmas holidays, including a tree for every room. She loved gardening and the flowers she grew provided splashes of color to brighten even the grayest, dullest days.
Sandy was a breast cancer survivor and had been in remission for many years prior to her unexpected passing. Sandy is preceded in death by her father Joseph “Mickey” Lamm. She is survived by husband, Chester “Stanley” Mayo Jr.; mother, Shelby “Jean” Lamm; brother Joseph “Randy” Lamm; son Chester “Trey” Stanley Mayo III and wife Brittany Mayo; daughter Tracey Tennille Mayo; five grandchildren Shelby, Chase, Kylie, Saleen, and Elyza.
Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service is honored to be serving the Mayo family.
