Raybon Cortez Harris Jr. age 64, a resident of Washington, NC passed away Friday, April 14, 2023 at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital after a fight with cancer.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7:30pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 6:30pm until the service hour and other times at the home. A private family burial will be held Wednesday.
Raybon was born in Saline County, Kansas on December 3, 1958 the son of the late Raybon Cortez Harris Sr. and Mary Louise Johnson Harris who survives. He worked as a locksmith for over two decades in the Beaufort County School system and was a member of the Alligood Church of God. He currently attended the New Life Church in Washington, NC. He was a giving, thoughtful man who found more joy in giving than receiving as anyone who received a bounty from his garden can attest. He found joy in rebuilding cars and tractors. Raybon was a man possessed of a large and generous heart, most of which was given to his loving wife Tammy and his two sons Raybon III and Casey who were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife: Tammy Alligood Harris; two sons: Raybon Cortez Harris III and wife Catherine of Washington, NC; Casey Shawn Harris and fiancée Tabita Chavez of Washington, NC; two brothers: Wesley Harris of Williamston, NC; Ricky Harris of Cary, NC and several nieces and nephews. Along with his father he was preceded in death by his sister Martha Jane Harris Couick.
