Peggy Cutler Carawan
Peggy Cutler Carawan, affectionately known as Peggy, brought light and inspiration into the lives of all those she encountered. She was born on December 17, 1937, in Beaufort County, NC, and passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2023. With a heart full of compassion and a spirit that radiated warmth, Peggy lived a life that touched many hearts over her 85 years.

Peggy's journey was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. She worked tirelessly at National Spinning Company until she retired in 1998 while also working along side of her beloved husband on their farm. Together, they nurtured the land and built a life filled with love and resilience.

Peggy's deep faith was evident in her active membership at Woodard's Pond Church of Christ. Throughout the years, she joyfully served in various capacities within the church, ultimately finding solace and purpose in her role with the Bereavement Committee. It was through this heartfelt service that Peggy's kindness and compassion truly shone, offering comfort and support to those in need until her health no longer allowed.

Having graduated from Bath High School in 1956, Peggy was always eager to learn and grow. Her thirst for knowledge was insatiable, and she approached life with an open mind and unwavering curiosity. Peggy's resilience extended beyond her education, as she navigated the ups and downs of life with grace and determination.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Bonnie and Edna Eborn, as well as her cherished husband Luther Cutler. She later found love and support in Elmo Thorten Carawan, whom she married on October 18, 1986. Peggy's memory will forever be cherished by her son "Luke" Jr. (Annette) and her grandson "Alex" Alexander Preston Cutler (Haley). Additionally, her great-grandchildren Savanah Rayn Cutler and Preston Alexander Cutler brought immense joy and love into her life.

Peggy was dearly loved by her brothers Larry Eborn (Margaret) and B.L. Eborn (Emily), as well as her sisters Iva Lee Walker (Kenny), Alta Clayton, Vickie Eborn, and sister-in-law Beulah Tatum of Pennsylvania. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Gentiva Hospice Group, who provided unwavering support and care during Peggy's illness. Their compassion and dedication made a profound difference in the Carawan family's journey, and their kindness will always be remembered.

Peggy Cutler Carawan's legacy is one of love, faith, and unwavering resilience. She will forever remain in our hearts as a symbol of strength and inspiration. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the joy she brought into the world and strive to continue her legacy by spreading love and compassion to all those around us.
