Ms. Glenda Askew Jackson, age 81, a resident of Pantego, NC went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at her home.
The family will receive friends on Monday October 3, 2022 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the Long Acre Chapel Christian Church.
A funeral service will be held at the church beginning at 2:00 pm with the burial to follow at the Askew Family Cemetery, Hwy 32 N. Services will be officiated by minister Rupert Wallace.
Glenda was born to the late Chester Rudolph Askew Sr. and Martha Modlin Askew on June 2, 1941 in Beaufort County, NC. She was a loving mother who would do whatever it took to raise her sons; often working two jobs. For many years, she was employed by Shavender Trucking. A woman of many loves; she loved her family, her church, and her community for which she served as the Mayor of Pantego, NC for over 20 years.
Along with her parents, Glenda was preceded in death by three brothers: Gerald Rudolph Askew, “CR” Askew Jr., and Ronnie Keith Askew.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her two sons: Jurden (Jay) Braxton Bell III and wife Pammy of Pantego, NC and Vernon Rogers Bell and wife Jennifer of Pantego, NC; three sisters: Julia Askew Russ and husband Travis of Plymouth, NC, Phyllis Askew Jones and husband Billy of Washington, NC and Teresa Askew Osborne and husband Greg of Washington, NC; four grandchildren: Eric Wayne Bell and wife Stephanie of Pantego, NC, Jessica Bell Hubers and husband Shawn of Dallas, NC, Jenna Bell Williams and husband Scott of Pantego, NC and Casey Latham Bell of Pantego, NC; and 6 great grandchildren: Coleman Williams, Kylie Hubers, Brady Hubers, Levi Williams, Reagan Bell and Cora Leigh Bell.
