Larry Wayne Ormond, age 69, passed away at home on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

The family will receive friends at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 6:00-8:00pm. A graveside service will be held the following day, Thursday, November 2 at 11:00am at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, NC, officiated by Lee Paul.

Larry was born in Washington, NC on October 24, 1954. He was the son of the late William H. Ormond and Mildred Sawyer Ormond. Larry graduated from Bath High School in 1973. He attended Chowan College. The majority of his career was spent at Texas Gulf (now Nutrien) where he retired after thirty-four years. In his free time following retirement, Larry enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. He attended Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Greenville, NC before his health started to decline.

Along with his fiancée Dawn Smith, he is survived by his daughter Jennifer Harris of Greenville, NC; a son: Jeffrey Ormond and wife Rose of Washington, NC; a brother: John Ormond and wife Becky of Greenville, NC; a grandson: Nicholas Hoover; and two nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother Garry Ormond.

Pallbearers for service will be: Troy Buck, David Moore, Charlie Smith, Al Watson, Ryan Adams, Elwood Ingalls, with Frank Ambrose serving as an honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Christian Church at 1726 Staton House Rd. Greenville, NC 27834; or St. Jude Children’s Hospital at PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.

    Larry was a neighbor and trusted friend for several years. He made a few pieces of handmade furniture for us, one being a beautiful solid oak computer desk/cabinet. Will miss having conversations in the yard with him. He is resting peacefully with GOD now.
