James Michael Hardison, known to everyone simply as Mike, passed away on October 23, 2023, at the age of 74 in Pitt County. Born on October 27, 1948, in Washington County, Mike lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a genuine appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.
Mike worked hard as a farmer throughout his days, tending to the land with dedication and a charming sense of humor. His passion for farming was only matched by his love for his family. He would often be seen with a smile on his face while tending to his crops, knowing that he was providing for those he held dear.
When he wasn't working in the fields, Mike enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors, indulging in his favorite pastimes of hunting and fishing. Nature provided him with solace and an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. His heart was always content when surrounded by the beauty of the land he cherished.
Mike's greatest joy was his loving wife, Vera, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together they shared a bond that was unbreakable, filled with endless love and mutual support. Their marriage was a testament to the power of companionship and the strength found in a lifetime of shared experiences.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his two daughters, Michelle (Doug) Black and Christina (Frank) Windley, as well as his three sons, Travis (Tonya) Hardison, William C. Walker III, and Kurtis "Tiger" Lee Miller. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren Joey Oliver, Cody Hardison, Lane Hardison, Dylan Windley, and Mckayla (Cameron Cook) Oliver, along with great-grandson Lucas Wilder Cook. His brother, Bruce (Terry) Hardison, and sister, Debbie (Pete) Proctor, also mourn his loss.
Like an oak tree, he stood strong, symbolizing his resilience and unwavering nature. He was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in the love of his wife, Vera, and the closeness of his family. Mike's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. As we celebrate his life, let us find comfort in knowing that he lived each day with a smile on his face and a heart full of love. In honoring Mike's wishes, no funeral services will be held.
