Henry George Young Jr., of Aurora, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side, on January 11, 2021 at the Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC, as a result of injuries from a fall. He will be remembered as a husband, father, grandfather, engineer, problem solver, traveler, sailor and golfer.

Henry was born in Barberton, Ohio to Henry G. Young Sr. and Gertrude Young on May 18, 1943. After high school, he attended CASE Institute of Technology and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree of Mechanical Engineering, furthering his education with a Master's Degree of Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He married Margaret E. Evans and together raised two children, Callista M. Rodriguez and Henry T. Young. He spent his career as an engineer and engineering manager working for General Electric in Schenectady, NY; Burlington, VT; Erie, PA; Bridgeport, CT and Cincinnati OH. He retired in Aurora, North Carolina to his dream home that he designed and built. The temperate weather allowed for year round enjoyment of boating and golfing. During his retirement, he was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He performed vessel safety checks and took great joy in talking with children about boating safety. During the summer months he traveled with his wife in their motorhome across the United States several times, discovering the unique culture in each state. Henry has always been a supporter of the arts and enjoyed discovering unique art works from artists across the country. He also took special enjoyment in spending time each summer with his four grandchildren, helping them work on different projects each year.

Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gertrude Young Sr. and his brother Mark Young.

Henry is survived by his wife, Margaret Young, his daughter Callista and Derek Rodriguez, his son Henry T. and Jennifer Young, brother Matt and Laurine Young, grandchildren Evan Rodriguez, Margaret Rodriguez, Aaron Young and Deborah Young.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations in Henry's memory can be made to the Habitat for Humanity.
