Harold O. Nixon, beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024, in his hometown of Beaufort County, NC. He was born on May 18, 1940, to the late Wallace Barrett Nixon and Bertha Bell Williams.

Harold, known for his charm and infectious laughter, lived a fulfilling life that was highlighted by his work as a self-employed contractor. He built not just homes but also lasting relationships with those who were lucky enough to cross paths with him.

In his free time, Harold was an avid sports enthusiast. Basketball was his passion, but it was on the softball field where he truly shined, continuing to play well into his eighties. He was the King of Three-Pointers on the court and even brought home the bronze medal during the senior Olympics. His dedication and skill inspired many, proving that age is just a number.

Harold's love and devotion extended far beyond sports. He was an incredibly loyal and supportive presence in his family's life, always being there for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He took great pride in being a grandparent, never missing a recital or game. His genuine interest and unwavering support meant the world to those closest to him.

With a great sense of humor, Harold knew how to put a smile on anyone's face. His quick wit and clever remarks could turn any situation into a lighthearted one. He had the remarkable ability to find joy in the simplest of things and his infectious laughter will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him.

Harold is survived by his loving daughters Tiffany Webster and Ingrid Nixon Pittman, a twin brother Harry Franklin Nixon, adored granddaughters Jordan Tyer and Nevaeh Pittman, grandson Christopher Tyer, and two precious great-granddaughters, Lakelyn Tyer and Alayah Howard.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, January 6, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the West Belhaven Church of Christ, officiated by James Scheffler.

The family will receive guests at their home, 590 Crabtree Rd, Belhaven, NC 27810.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Town of Belhaven Parks and Recreation Department by clicking HERE

Harold O. Nixon will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever shine bright in the memories of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that his legacy of love and laughter lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service is honored to serve the Nixon family.
