George Mason age 67, of Pitt County NC passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Monday, August 20, 2018 at Washington Assembly of God located at 2029 W. 5th Street, Washington, NC.
George was born in Washington NC, the son of Marvin Mason and Lilley Mae Bright. As a young man, George volunteered and joined the United States Army to fight in Vietnam. Serving two tours of duty he was awarded the Bronze Star for his brave actions and the Purple Heart. George then married Charlotte Nicholls Mason in 1980 they had two sons, Christopher and Marvin. George used his mechanical skills, and ingenious construction ability to build his first home and provide a secure home-life for his family.
George is survived by his son Marvin Mason and Jessica, and his ex-wife of 34 years Charlotte. He was also survived by his siblings Clarice Rinard, Diane Mason, Leon Mason, Gladys Woynowskie, and Danny Mason, and his nieces and nephews John Marvin Mason, Holly Mason, Laurel MacKenzie, Mike Woynowskie, John Mason, Eric Mason, and Matthew Mason. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in his death by his son Christopher Mason, his sister Betsy Mason, and his nephew Jason Mason.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Sharon Whitehurst a friend of George's for care and help during his time of sickness, and also Community Hospice.
