Franklin Lewis, age 63, a resident of Washington, NC, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the ECU Health Beaufort Hospital.
He was born on November 16, 1959, in New Jersey to the late James and Frieda Lewis. Franklin grew up in New Jersey where he developed a love for music. You could often hear him belting a song from Boys to Men, Michael Jackson, or Ryan McKnight; and although he thought he sounded so good, some would say he didn’t. While he may not have been able to sing very well, he could flirt, and he could cook. Whether it was any type of meat off the grill or comfort foods like macaroni and cheese and fried chicken, he could warm your belly and your heart.
Franklin had a love for many things; basketball, football, his pack of pit bulls, driving a tractor trailer on the open road; but nothing more than for the love of his family. Joking around with friends, his children, and his grandchildren, will be memories shared that will last their lifetime.
Left to cherish Franklin’s memory are his daughter and son in law: Tiffany and Raymond Wilcox, daughter: Shannon Lewis, son: Lewis Franklin Jr., three brothers: James Lewis, Melvin Lewis, and Burdies Borders, sister: Elizabeth Lewis, grandson: Raymond Wilcox III, and his three granddaughters, Kamiyah Wilcox, Rayanna Wilcox, and Emma Lewis.
A private family memorial will be held out of state at a later date.
