Ernest Armstead Sheppard, Jr. age 75, a resident of Washington, NC died Thursday March 24, 2022 at his home.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and close friends
Ernest was born in Beaufort County on January 19, 1947 to the late Ernest Armstead Sheppard, Sr. and Emily Elizabeth Woolard.
Ernest was a retired lineman foreman with the City of Washington for over 30 years. Ernest loved fishing, boating, and going to the beach. He had an adventurous side as he also loved roller coasters and enjoyed motorcycle riding.
He is survived by his three children: two daughters Nicky Curlings (and husband Kenny) of Blounts Creek, Lisa Sheppard of Washington, and a son, Ernest Sheppard of Chocowinity; his former wife and loving caregiver, Kathryn (Kay) Sheppard, and grandchildren Emily Sheppard, Darion Curlings, Taylor Curlings, Colby Curlings, Ashlynne Martin and Ridge Hodges; Nieces and nephews: Evelyn Tetterton, Elizabeth Beacham, Bud Brooks, and Trudy Paramore. Along with his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Ray Sheppard, two sisters, Juanita Gray Sheppard and Ann Sheppard Brooks, a nephew Lester Brooks and a nephew, Reggie Brooks.
Ernest will be missed by Petey, his beloved dog, who laid by his side until his very last day. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Beaufort County Animal Shelter by clicking the link below.
