Dorothy Helen (Tate) Daniels age 95, a resident of Belhaven, NC died Sunday, October 27, 2019 at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Washington.
A funeral service will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at Washington Assembly of God, 2029 W 5th Street, Washington, NC. The family will receive friends at 6 pm prior to the service.
Dorothy was born June 6, 1924 to Dave and Lucy Tate and was the oldest of 12 children. She loved her family, spending time in the yard, her cats, and her salt and pepper shaker collection. Dorothy was a member of Bath Church of God. In her later years, Dorothy loved traveling and going to the horse races with her son Johnny.
Dorothy is survived by two children, Charles Daniels and wife, Patricia of Washington and Loretta Edwards and husband, Ricky of Mount Olive. Thirteen grandchildren: Jimmy Daniels, John David Eshelman, Greg Crisp, Stuart Daniels, Kim Martin, Lori Daniels Davenport, Jason Daniels, Michelle Daniels, Jamie "Bumper" Daniels, Jim Daniels, Michelle Daniels Linton, Taylor Edwards, and Allison Daniels, 19 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and four sisters: Gladys Tate Kirk, Joyce Tate Daniels, Julia Tate Respass, and Lorene Tate Moores.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Medford Daniels in 1998, sons: Howard Daniels in 2003, Jimmy Daniels in 2012, and Johnny Daniels in 2019, and grandson Billy Daniels in 1986. Also preceding her in death were her parents Dave and Lucy Tate, brothers: Mitchell Tate, Lloyd Tate, Jo Ed Tate, Walter Tate, Lawrence Tate, Lindsey Tate and Bill Tate.
