Dorothy Anne Edwards Credle
Our beloved mother, Dorothy Anne Edwards Credle, joined her loving husband on Thursday, September 21st. Dorothy was born in Bladen County on July 24, 1930, the daughter of the late Roy Edwards and Retha Singletary Edwards. For most of her life she called Great Bridge home, but had recently moved to the family home in Bath, NC.
Dorothy was a graduate of Great Bridge High School class of 1948. After graduation from Kees Business College she went to work at Richmond Cedar Works where she met her husband, Martin Floyd Credle. That union of 63 years blessed them with 3 children, Deborah Anne Credle, Bryan Keith Credle, and Martin Floyd Credle, Jr. She was a past member of Colonial Baptist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her children, she is survived by 2 grandchildren, Lillie and Emma Credle, brother, Stephen Edwards, Revered D. Thomas Edwards, and Michael Edwards. She had a great love for her family and will be missed by all.
There will be a service for her at St. Clair's Church of Christ in Bath, NC at 1:00 Tuesday, September 26th, officiated by her brother, Rev. D. Thomas Edwards. Visitation immediately following. She will then be carried home to be laid to rest. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 27th from 6:00 – 8:00 with the service being at 1:00 on Thursday, September 28th at the Hollomon Brown, Great Bridge Chapel on Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA. To my dear niece and nephews, I am so sad to have missed seeing your Mom again as we had hoped. She was another sister to me and a wonderful Aunt to my twins. She always was so supportive to us at the most trying times in our lives. I know Floyd has been waiting so he could have someone to tell his family tree stories to. All the Credles will be standing at the gates waiting to greet her as well as the Edwards Clan. May she find peace in Gods loving arms.

Debbie,Bryan and Marty, I was so sad that I didn't get to see Dot again like we had hoped. Both your Mom and Dad were always so kind and helpful to me and Danny and Geoff. We were never treated as anything other than close family and you will never understand just how much that meant to the boys and I. Just know that she is in Gods hands now and that your Dad was patiently waiting for her company. Our prayers are with you all

    Dear Debbie

We have been praying for you since we first heard about your mother. As you and I sat in choir last week, we were talking about your mom and your deep concern for her health. Little did we know then The Lord would call her home so quickly.

I am sorry we cannot attend the funeral, but please know you are in our thoughts and praying The Lord will give you HIS peace and comfort.

Dorothy was someone we got to know better as the years went by. Even though the visits were few & far between, it was always easy to pick up where we last "left off". She loved her family, and I'm happy to say that she treated "us" like a family, too! I know she will be greatly missed!
