Doris Jean "Jeannie" Standau age 82, a resident of Bath, NC died Monday, March 4, 2019 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Washington.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 2:30 pm, at the Sidney Free Will Baptist Cemetery.
Jeannie was born on June 29, 1936 in Beaufort County. She married Norval Standau, the two moved to Kansas and raised two daughters. Norval and Jeannie were married for 50 years at the time of his passing in 2005.
After the passing of her husband, Jeannie decided she wanted to spend the rest of her retirement where she was raised, Beaufort County. Upon arriving, she met a group of ladies from the Bath Christian Church and became involved with their activities. She was a charter member of the Historic Bath Book Club, participated in monthly outings with the Bath Christian Church Widow's Group, was a substitute player of the daytime Bunco Group, and attended the Bath Christian Church.
She is survived by her two daughters: Shelley Standau and Sherry Schulze and husband Mark of Kansas City, Missouri, and a sister: Amelia A. Thomas of Maryland. She was preceded in death by her mother: Thelma Clayton Hackley and father: Edward Darst Brooks.
