She was born on June 21, 1945 to the late Herbert Walker and Lydia Tatum Walker. She is survived by: her daughter, Laura Bilbro-Berry and her husband, Todd Berry, and granddaughter, Grace Walker Berry of Washington, N.C.; her son, Timothy Richard Bilbro and her grandsons, Ben Bilbro and Jake Bilbro of Burke, VA; and her brother, Herbert Allen Walker and his wife Joyce, of Brunswick County, N.C. Carolyn held a bachelor's degree in English Literature and American Studies from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a master's degree in Recreation and Leisure Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a talented writer and took delight in the written word. She spent much of her professional career as a technical writer in North Carolina and Georgia. Carolyn was also a gifted musician and played multiple instruments, including piano, violin, dulcimer, guitar, clarinet, and flute. She also enjoyed composing her own music and singing in the choir at the First Presbyterian Church of Washington. Carolyn was also an avid follower of traditional music which she adored listening to and playing. She engaged in numerous forms of fiber arts including spinning, weaving, and knitting.

Her family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the caregivers at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Services, and at Vidant Beaufort Hospital for their kindness and care during Carolyn's stay at those facilities.

Due to the current pandemic, her family will hold a memorial service at a later date when it is safer to congregate.
