Beverly Earl Whitehurst was born to the late Elijah Whitehurst and the late Neda Mae Moore Whitehurst in June 18, 1956. He passed on to glory on April 5, 2023.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service.

Earl attended PS 99 primary school in Bronx, New York. Due to his academic excellence, Earl was selected to attend Moses Brown, a private high school in Providence, Rhode Island. After high school, he continued his educational pursuits by studying Occupational Safety and Health at Columbia Southern University located in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Afterwards, Earl furthered his education by earning a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health and a minor in Industrial Technology from the historically black college Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

After college, Earl joined the United Stated Army where he served as an Army Ranger. During his military services, he was stationed in Germany as well as other countries. Later, Earl was honorably discharged from the Army. After completing his career in armed services, Earl began his long and successful career as an Occupational Safety and Health Professional. His diverse career history included, but was not limited to, serving as a Health Safety Manager in Central Europe. In addition, he held positions in the United States including an Environmental and Safety Manager for Phillips and Jordan, Inc., and a Safety and Health Manager at Wright Brothers Construction Company, Inc. Earl was fluent in Spanish and worked in Mexico for seven years. Earl’s last position prior to his illness was as an Environmental Health and Safety Manager for the Richmond, Virginia unit of DPR Construction.

A man of strong religious conviction, Earl found the Lord at a young age and his faith was evidenced in the way he lived his life every day. He was a strong believer in Christ and shared the word with others whenever he had the opportunity to. Earl was a member of El Shaddai Holy Temple in Williamston, North Carolina under the leadership of the Reverend Bishop James Best.

Preceding Earl in death are his father Elijah Whitehurst, his mother Neda Mae Spann, brother Winfred Whitehurst, and two infant sisters, Wanda Kay and T’Esther Whitehurst. Earl leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted daughter, Jessica Monique Crunkleton (husband Julian Sr.) of St. Louis, Missouri; four brothers, Earnest Elijah Whitehurst (wife Annie) of Jamesville, North Carolina, Alfonso Whitehurst (wife Lovella) of Jamesville, North Carolina, Ricky Whitehurst of Wichita, Kansas, and Jermaine Spann of Roper, North Carolina; two sisters, Juanita Wade (husband Anthony) of Eastover, North Carolina and Joyce Wooten of Lorton, Virginia; two aunts, Verna Moore and Lorraine Moore of Jamesville, North Carolina; five grandchildren Makkyah, Aaliyah, Miles Earl, Kendall, and Julian Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
