Betty Lou Hodges Brabble, 77, passed away peacefully at her home on December 11, 2023, in Washington, NC. She was born on April 6, 1946, in Washington, NC.

Betty dedicated her professional life to being a talented cosmetologist at Betty's Country Curl. With her skilled hands and warm personality, she brought joy and confidence to countless clients over the years.

Outside of work, Betty had a green-thumb and loved spending time in her garden. She found great pleasure in nurturing plants and watching them flourish. Additionally, Betty had an unwavering admiration for Elvis Presley and his music. His melodious tunes never failed to bring a smile to her face. Although she cherished the beach, Betty wasn't particularly fond of the ocean. However, she could always be seen dancing away, reveling in the joy it brought her.

Betty will be deeply missed by her surviving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Turfie Hodges and Annie (Boyd) Hodges, her beloved husband of nearly fifty years: James Brabble, as well as her sister Mary Faye Simpson, sister Joyce Ann Hodges, brother Ricky Dean Hodges, and stepdaughter Becky George.

Left to cherish Betty's memory are her sister Frankie Suggs of Chocowinity, NC; Page McGowan and her husband Jack of Chocowinity, NC; Brother Joe Hodges and his wife Kathy of Washington, NC; daughter Bobbie Rossetti and her husband Tony of Farmville, NC; daughter Wendy Todd and her husband Garland of Greenville, NC; granddaughter Tabitha Ward of Washington, NC; stepchildren Jay and Anna Brabble, along with three step-grandchildren.

The services to honor and celebrate Betty's life will be held as follows: visitation at Joseph B. Paul Jr Funeral Service on Thursday, December 14, from 6:00-8:00pm, followed by a graveside service at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, NC, on Friday, December 15, at 1:00pm. The officiation will be led by Kyle Miller. Freddie, Jack, and Austin McGowan will serve as pallbearers along with Curtis Waters, Joe and Chris Hodges.

As we bid farewell to Betty, let us remember her warm smile, caring nature, and the joy she brought to those around her. May her soul find eternal rest.

Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service is honored to be assisting the Brabble family.

Betty, we had a long ride didn't we girl. You married daddy when I was only 14. I never lived with yall but would visit as much as I could. Needless to say we had our ups and downs and we worked thru them. But when I moved in to take care of daddy we became close. Close enough for me to fondly call you mama B. I will miss your fire ... you sure were one of a kind. Rest in peace. Your in God's hands now and I'm sure your glad to have your legs back. Love, Anna G. Brabble

Sorry to hear of Betty's passing. Betty and Obed are together again. Coming home some days I would travel Market Street Ext. When I would pass by your home, I would stop in and see you guys. Now it just doesn't feel right traveling Market Street and not seeing Obed in his barn and stopping to visit. May God bless you and your family.

Betty was my step-mother for 49 years. We had a troubled past but I forgave her long ago. The last 10 years she changed her ways and she showed me love for the last 10 years. May God bless her soul. Rest easy Betty, I love you and will never forget you.
