Allan Earl Smith
Allan Earl Smith, 87, a resident of Washington, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Allan Earl Smith departed this life on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at his home. Allan Earl as he likes to be called was born to the late George and Carrie Smith Sr. on July 27, 1936. Allan Earl received his formal education with Pitt County Training School in Grimesland, North Carolina. He worked various jobs as a laborer until his health declined.
Allan Earl was very intelligent and full of wisdom and trivia. He enjoyed sports, westerns, country music, and spoiling his great nieces and nephews. He always would ask, “Do you need anything, and if you said no, he always insisted that you take some money.” He didn’t mind giving even if it was his last. Allan Earl gave his life to Christ some years ago.

He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Carrie Smith, seven brothers: Charles Jerry Smith, Joseph J Smith, James Smith, Joseph “Joe Duck” Smith, Carliss Smith, John Henry Smith, and George Smith. He was also preceded in death by his sisters: Thelma Smith, Lulu Bell Clark, and Bessie Smith Cosely. Allan Earl was the last living of his siblings.

Allan Earl presence will be missed but he leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted niece that he loved like a daughter, Phyllis Midgette, his caregiver, nephew, Edward Earl Guilford of the home, and a special great-great niece, whom he called his honey boo boo, Mahogani Midgette of Hampton, VA. Allan Earl also leaves to cherish him eight nieces: Pastor Dorothy Guilford (William) of Washington, NC, Barbara Credle (Milbert) of Washington, NC, Levern Randolph of Washington, NC, Sheila Norfleet of Washington, NC, Barbara Clark of New Jersey, Anna Clark of Washington, NC, Stephanie Smith, Juanita Smith of Long Island, NY, nine nephews: Joseph Smith, Melvin Cosely (Lillie) of Richmond, VA, Julian Cosely of Richmond, VA, Pastor Vance Clark of Cleveland, Ohio, Darryl Smith of Portsmouth, VA, Walter Smith, Greg Smith, Gregory Smith, Wayne Smith, a host of great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins, and a devoted friend, James Tucker.

No services are scheduled at this time.
